Rootstock announces three major system upgrades to create a better Bitcoin platform for smart contracts as an add-on to Bitcoin functions.
The update is made up of several connected enhancements that improve every part of Rootstock’s service. The latest updates enhance Rootstock by lowering gas fees by 60% while improving EVM compatibility and PowPeg functions while preparing for faster transactions.
The initial part of this system update which enabled reduced gas fees was already in place when news about the update was released. The Lovell Upgrade will begin operations today before the Faster Protocol launches its service next.
Rootstock’s Commitment to Low-Cost Smart Contracts
As CEO of RootstockLabs and Lead Author of Rootstock Daniel Fogg notes how this update matters to users. According to Fogg users will find Rootstock more affordable because of its dramatically reduced transaction fees.
He noted that Rootstock achieved this achievement through cooperative work between its whole community especially its miners.
The news shows the team wants to build Bitcoin-based smart contracts on a platform that runs better on a low cost decentralized system. Rootstock plans to improve its sidechain system according to its long-term strategy until 2025.
The Lovell upgrade is about to hit mainnet.
More security. More decentralization. More possibilities. The next phase of Rootstock is almost here.

Because of Rootstock’s merge-mining partners’ effectiveness in reducing transaction fees users can now use the platform to access dApps and smart contracts at reduced costs. Smart contract builders pay less to run and operate their projects on this platform.
The Lovell Upgrade will add complete EVM compatibility to PowPeg and boost security levels while reducing dependency on network administrators in Rootstock’s Bitcoin-Rootstock connection.
Rootstock Revolutionizes Bitcoin Layer 2 Solutions
Users can run EVM-based applications on Bitcoin through Rootstock easily since the upgrade eliminates the need for further deployment tools. The security updates for PowPeg verify all changes before they affect locked funds for protection.
To make PowPeg more secure the number of signers has grown from 9 to 60 enhancing overall network reliability and trust.
The Faster Protocol from Rootstock will enable confirmation speeds up to 10 times faster as it reduces block times from 30 seconds to just 5 seconds. The Rootstock team predicts faster and smoother user interaction from boosting transaction throughput levels.
Rootstock brings Ethereum programming with decentralized security from Bitcoin into one unified platform. The platform works with Solidity coding and uses Merge Mined Proof-of-Work consensus defense alongside 60% of Bitcoin’s computational strength to secure its network.
Rootstock now leads as a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution thanks to its revolutionary performance and security updates that make this technology more reliable for users and developers.
