Moxy, the video game tournament and gamification platform founded by Nolan Bushnell, today announced a partnership with Skale Labs. Moxy will use and advance Skale’s invisible, gasless blockchain technology, which, according to both companies, addresses one of the major challenges for web3 gaming: Gas fees.
The Moxy team chose Skale for speed and efficiency, says the team. It will migrate the Moxy Token to the Skale Protocol from Ethereum, which the team says will save Moxy $3.5 million annually on gas fees. Moxy plans to reinvest the savings into its ecosystem.
Jack O’Holleran, Skale’s CEO and co-founder, told GamesBeat, “It is estimated that roughly 30 million people play blockchain games. This is impressive but it is just a drop in the bucket considering that over 3 billion people play games globally. SKALE and Moxy are partnering with the goal of helping merge these worlds and onboard the next 1 billion players to Web3. We hope to bring in more players and transactions to the SKALE blockchain through this partnership and ultimately help grow the footprint of the industry by an order of magnitude.”
Bushnell said in a statement, “Our collaboration with Skale is a game-changer for web3 gaming. By eliminating gas fees and harnessing Skale’s high-speed infrastructure, we are setting a new standard for what gamers and developers can expect. We now have the potential to bridge the gap between traditional and blockchain gaming, creating a seamless and rewarding experience for all.“
